Groove Armada release the first single from their forthcoming album, which is due for release later this year. The single features the vocals from Empire of the Sun and Pnau frontman, Nick Littlemore, and the accompanying video was filmed in lock down and is fab!
The duo had accumulated hundreds of extracts of Littlemore’s vocals and painstakingly edited them together into something fresh and vibrant. Cato recalls, “As I went through the recordings of Nick, I realised there were lots of cool phrases and great deliveries we could use. It took a very long time to find the right order for them, but once we had that line ‘Get out on the dancefloor, it felt vibey. Slotting the music underneath was the easy bit!”. His vocals really are truly fantastic
The video features cameo performances filmed by Groove Armada super fans in isolation from lockdown across the globe. They include US actress Rose McGowan, singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and UK drag star Davina De Campo, plus an army of TikTok’s biggest names.
And here’s the video in full, enjoy!
And getting back to Swansea, Groove Armada’s At the River, released in 1997 reminded me SO much of Swansea when I was living in the Big Smoke, and their Another Late Night mix album is off the hook.
And finally here’s another great track from Groove Armada, My Friend (Swag’s Good Buddy Remix):
