I went to Uplands Market and I Bought…

In 2013 Swansea based creative regeneration agency, Urban Foundry created Uplands Market with the full support of our Assembly Member, local Councillors and the Uplands community.

Here’s some information on Urban Foundary:

“Since 2004 we’ve been forging great ideas that change the world for the better by turning good ideas into reality, helping to sustain them, and learning what works and what doesn’t so that even better ideas can be developed in future.”

Well, Uplands Market was a great idea! I try and get there as often as I can. Here’s what I bought:

Sausages, biltong and cider from Grey Alders/curry from Goggis Cuisine/sausages from Carn Edwards Meat/fudge from Gourmet Gower Fudge and pies from Karl Davies Butchers. Click HERE for the full details on face book from today’s market.

The market stalls sell quality Welsh produce and it was great to see it busy today. The cafes were also busy which is the knock-on effect of increased footfall to the Uplands on market day. Shopping local is not only good for local traders, it’s good for the environment as reducing imported goods lowers what is called ‘food miles’

that is the distance food is transported from the time of its making until it reaches the consumer. Shopping local reduces the carbon footprint of the food.

One more bit of good news, following form the success of Uplands Market, Urban Foundary created Marina Market.

Uplands Market is every last Saturday of the month, and you can find out all about it by clicking HERE.
