Our Town at The Grand Theatre

Following on from my post on the fantastic news that The Welsh National Theatre is moving into the Civic Centre, I’m writing to let you know it’s first production Our Town debuts at Swansea Grand Theatre 16-31 January 2026 (tickets on sale Our Town).

Michael Sheen said: “Our Town is a play about life, love and community. That’s what matters to us in Wales; that’s what matters to me. It’s a play that compels us to celebrate the everyday, to hold the ones we cherish. I can’t think of a better play to welcome audiences around Wales and in London to the Welsh National Theatre, along with our co-production partners The Rose Theatre.”

That’s what matters to me too, to celebrate the here and now…. that’s what I try to do. It resonates so much with me and I’m really looking forward to seeing it.

It’s initially being shown in the Grand Theatre, a performing Arts venue in the centre of Swansea. It opened in 1897, has a 1014 seat auditorium and a variety of smaller studios and rooms. The Arts Wing is the most recent development at the theatre, a space to host exhibitions, conferences and smaller-scale music and drama performances.

It’s a Grade II listed building.

Here’s a few photos I took recently when I visted to see a show:

There’s so much going on at the Grand Theatre, including Lunchtime Theatre on the last Saturday of each month, presented by Fluellen Theatre Company.
